I have received an unconditional offer from Nottingham Trent Uni after getting a place right on the spot at the interview.

Brighton Interview Date

I have received an interview date for Brighton on the 23rd of March and 2pm.

They have given me advice on what to bring to the interview and how to prepare my portfolio.

Man Met Responce

I received a response from Man Met saying that I have been offered a conditional place providing that I pass this Foundation course of art and design.

Further Artist Influence- Esther Teichmann

When I went to my Chester Interview, I was looking through a Creative Review publication where I came across Creative Futures- a segment which showcases upcoming artists from photographers to illustrators. When looking at the photography section, I saw an artist whose work stood out for me.

Esther Teichmann’s main body of work comes from a very intuitive concept where she writes short stories and abstract narratives which are a starting point for her work. She states that”I often know what I want the image to feel like before I know what it will look like. i know what emotion and reaction I want to evoke, in a sense what narrative I want to tell, and then I work on how to visually create this feeling.”

Her series, Viscosity, which I found influential takes inspiration from swimming in a lake in Germany that was surrounded by a forest. The contrast between the warmth of the lake and the cool night air is portrayed in the portraits of the bathers. Teichmann draws from her own experiences of what she sees around her.

Editting Darkroom Print Two

I decided to change the print to edit a different darkroom print. I wanted to use more varies of the prints produced.

For this piece I took this print below, cropped it and added a square over the top like the previous print.

From this point I changed the square to have a gradient colour, and edited the angle at which the gradient would appear.

I then chose to adjust the appearance of the print by editing the square to the Darken effect. I also changed the opacity to 87% as this would allow the print to come through more vividly.

I also added an adjustment which was a Curve to make the appearance more bold.

 

For this piece I started over again with the same print, and keeping the square but changing the colour scheme of the gradient.

I then changed the angle of the gradient to accommodate the print background.

I kept the effect (Darken) the same as well as the opacity. I also kept the Curve tool as it was effective for the print.

 

For this print, I chose to use a different gradient which consisted with several different colours. I changed the angle so it would look more effective and accommodate the print’s design better.

After that, I used the effect Vivid Light as it was the best effect for this print and made the colours blend well with the patterns of the water. I also changed the opacity to 58% so that the print was more clear through the gradient square.

 

For the print, I chose to use a more vivid and bold gradient. I found a bright orange and navy blue which I found to be an interesting contrast. I kept the angle at 90.

I kept the effect as Vivid Light like the last print as it was the best effect for the print. However, I decreased the opacity to 38% as it allowed the print to come through more vividly.

 

 

 

 

 

Seventh Shoot- Studio Shoot

For my eighth shoot, I chose to photograph my cousin to expand upon my family as I had just been photographing my parents and brother.

I messaged my cousin to ask if she could come in before she went off to uni, so she agreed and came in on Thursday 14/01/16. I shot her in the Stem building behind a black background.

Identity Shoot

For my Leeds application, I chose to shoot my mum as she had has a mastectomy. After looking through the images I chose 4 to send off, however I had chosen several to use in my work as it connects with my unit 5 project.

I feel these images portray an important subject in modern day life. Women are portrayed as sex symbols and are sexualised a great deal. It is considered the “norm” two have two boobs with nipples so to not have them, or even to have a scar is unusual and wouldn’t be advertised. I wanted to produce work that  showed how the deformity formed by cancer could change a woman’s perception of herself and how she views beauty. I used lighting as the main element for this work as I wanted it to highlight the focus areas like her face and her breast, as well as proposing serenity and angelic characterisation within a violent and traumatic context.

Chester Interview Responce

I received an unconditional offer after having my interview at Chester University.

Manchester Metropolitan Interview Date

I had received an interview date for Man Met for the 1st of March at 1:30pm.

I accepted the invitation.

Nottingham Trent Interview Date

I received a letter from Nottingham Trent University asking me to attend an interview on the 16th March however, Leeds College of Art had also asked me to attend an interview on that date too which I had already accepted.

I rang up the university and asked to change the date, the woman allowed me to change to the 9th of March at 1pm.
